Permanent Residence

Express Entry

Most people who come to Canada as permanent residents apply under the Express Entry program.

There are 3 types of Express Entry programs:

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC);

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP); and

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

If you’re eligible under Express Entry, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the immigration department that processes all permanent residence applications, will,

  • Place you in a pool of candidates;

  • Give you a score under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS); and

  • Invite you to apply for permanent residence if you meet the CRS cut-off score.

Candidates often miscalculate their points using the CRS tool because they have a difficult time in understanding how to answer certain questions, which reduces their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply.

Because we know what IRCC is looking for, we’ll make sure that there aren’t any mistakes in your application.

This is why we strongly recommend that you book a consultation with us today, so that we can go through the CRS tool together and submit an application for permanent residence.

Required work experience

Whether you’re applying under CEC, FSWP, or the FSTP, you’ll need about 1,560 hours of work experience, but the timeline with respect to when you obtained that experience differs for each program.

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

If you complete a master’s degree or a PhD from a Canadian university, you may be eligible to apply for a nomination for permanent residence.

You may also be eligible for a provincial or territorial nomination through the various other programs that the provinces or territories offer. In fact, there are more than 80 different provincial economic streams that you can choose from and selecting the right program and submitting all necessary documents are some of the toughest aspects of the process.

Once you receive a nomination, you get 600 points, and this will place you in a strong position to submit a permanent residence application.

But a mistake in your PNP application means that you won’t get a nomination from the province or territory, which is why it’s important to make sure you submit the strongest application possible.

Book a consultation with us today, so that we can hear your story and help you submit your Express Entry or PNP application.
